About me

Hmmm not sure where to start this?

Why gluten free and dairy free?
Well I recently stopped eating anything with gluten and dairy (ok sometimes I still have dairy but I shouldn't) and have finally started to feel better. Over the last few years I have felt more and more tired and had a general feeling of not feeling well. I have had other symptoms like nausea, fatigue, headaches, and insomnia. So many doctors made me feel like it was all in my head because all of my labs (sorry nurse talk) have come back normal. Long story short I found a new doctor who took me off gluten and dairy and now I am feeling so much better.

Why vegetarian?
To be honest I use to make fun of vegetarians :/ sorry! I thought they were crazy people and then one day meat started making my symptoms worse. So I became one of the crazy people. I am always asked  if I will go back to eating meat and I think I often give people the stink eye when they ask because now I couldn't imagine going back :). I have always been an animal lover and when I stopped eating meat I realized (after also reading a graphic book on the subject) that eating meat was not being the true animal lover that I am. Don't worry I don't hate meat eaters, besides my husband loves him some bacon!

Fitness?
Exercise and I have a love/hate relationship. To be honest I have the same relationship with food, I have always been somewhat of an emotional eater (that's another story though). I struggle to keep motivated especially while working and going to nursing school part-time. Its so hard to not want to curl up in my sweats and veg out. Now that I am feeling better I do feel a lot more motivation. Especially since I have a 1/2 marathon coming up in January (eeeeckkk!!). 2012 needs to be the year that I finally feel good looking in the mirror. So besides my run/walks I have started doing I am also rededicating  myself to the workouts on Bodyrock.tv! You should really check it out! Zuzanna and Freddy are the best and give free workouts and eating advice.

What else?
I have only 8 months left of my 2 year nursing program (LVN or LPN). Yay! I work as a nanny and am considering trying to be a pediatric nurse. I have been married for almost 2 years to an amazing man and my high school sweat heart! Yep we have been together for just over a decade! Can you believe it?! Time just flies by! Oh yes and as for the blog, I wanted a place I could share my journey with others who might be going through the same stuff. When I found blogs about being vegetarian and gluten free it helped a lot and I hope this blog winds up doing the same for someone else one day! Stick around and see what happens :)
